I know every beauty or lifestyle blog out there is going to be doing a post like this, but since I.M.H.O falls into those here we all are and to be completely honest I’ve been itching to play with some of my new makeup. I was actually initially going to do a “what I normally wear for makeup” post, but then I was a little heavy on the highlighter, and then I contoured a little more aggressively… and then well- I reached for one of my new red lipsticks. I would consider this an afternoon look, not quite light enough for an all day look, but definitely on the lighter side for an evening out or a dinner party (at least for me).
Here is the finished look:
Primer/Moisturizer: I sometimes skip this step to be honest. It’s not a malicious skipping, I just forget and by the time I remember I’m halfway through a failed cat eye. BUT I REMEMBERED THIS TIME!!! I am a make up junkie (I didn’t know if you could tell) and so I am of course subscribed to the Ipsy monthly box as well as to Sephora Play. I can’t recall which subscription brought me the Hey Honey 24Seven: Day & Night Revitalizing Cream but BUHLESS. I LOVE this product, it smells amazing and it makes my skin feel soft and well cared for.
Foundation: TBH I rarely use foundation, if I did I would have gone for a light bb cream or a light coverage foundation, but if I can get away with it I don’t like to put foundation on, today was a day where I got away with it.
Concealer: I use two different concealers, I use the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in Fair (I know everyone is SHOCKED) as well as the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Treatment Concealer in the lightest or the second lightest shade I can find. I start with the Age Rewind one because it’s a little easier to blend into my skin tine and sometimes that’s all I need, but today I needed to follow-up with the Fit Me Concealer. I apply them to my under eye, the corners of my nose, between my eyebrows, and then wherever I may have blemishes.
Contour: I first take the Lancome Le Duo Contour & Highlighter Stick in either Ivoire or Buff and carve away at my face like it’s a Thanksgiving turkey. After I blend it in I set it with one of the two contour shades in the e.l.f Contour and Highlighting Pallet. I find that when I combine these two products I get a natural enough contour, well as natural as a contour can look.
Blush: I used bareMinerals loose powder blush in Beauty. Literally everyone and their uncle should own this, it’s super pigmented so a little goes a loooooooong way, it’s super easy to apply and it gives you a naturally blushed look.
Setting Powder: I used the Too Faced setting powder in Primed & Poreless Pressed Powder, this lil’ beauty has SAVED MY ASS several times when I went a little too hard with the contour (I blame RuPaul, she gives me unrealistic beauty aspirations, like what a goddess). This leaves me looking flawless (if I say so myself and I do).
Highlighter: I am IN LOVE with the OFRA highlighter in You Glow Girl. I feel like an absolute goddess when I wear it, it’s super pigmented and is hell blendable so whenever I dust this unicorn sparkle onto my face I know I’m going to have an amazing day.
Eyebrows: I am a full convert to the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade. This product is raved about by most if not all of the beauty gurus and with good reason! I love love love mine (in the shade Taupe) because it allows me to make my naturally blond eyebrows a little more pronounced and dramatic.
Eye Primer: I used the Urban Decay in Minor Sin. I like to use this particular primer during the holidays because it’s a brilliant foundation for my shadows as well as just dandy on its own!
Eyeshadows: I used the eyeshadows from my new pallet from Tarte, I used the shades Classic, No Filter, Drama, and Minx. If you want to hear more about the pallete click here.
Mascara: Too Faced Bad Gal Lash, ugh- for me it beats out the Better Than Sex Mascara, I know. Heracy. But it costs less and does, again in my opinion, a better job in literally every way. If you want to venture into more of my thoughts and emotions click here to read more.
Here’s a close up on my eye (oooooo, ahhhhhh):
